Princes Juliana Airport (SXM) at Saint Maarten is well known for its low flying airplanes on the Maho beach.  In November 2010 I visited the island and I must say it is an aviation photographers paradise. Mostly the action starts at 01:30 PM till sunset as the larger airliners arrive. Most of the scheduled arrivals will be posted on the surfboard at the Sunset bar at Maho beach. Nevertheless the cargo carriers arrive in the morning and the local carriers with Twin Otters and Islanders fly throughout the day.

Also famous, but not without risk, is the fence hanging. You choose your departing aircraft, stand right behind it and hold on to the fence. You will experience a blast of a lifetime! I am not sure if it is allowed anymore since people were seriously hurt during this action. Still this type of interaction between the public and airplanes on a tropical beach is kind of its own. I will return for sure one day.
